According to the statistical results of the domestic tourism sample survey, in the first three quarters of 2023, the total number of domestic tourism arrivals was 3.674 billion, an increase of 1.580 billion over the same period last year, and a year-on-year increase of 75.5%. Among them, urban residents made 2.846 billion domestic trips, a year-on-year increase of 78.0%; rural residents made 828 million domestic trips, a year-on-year increase of 67.6%. Looking at it by quarter: In the first quarter of 2023, the total number of domestic tourism arrivals was 1.216 billion, a year-on-year increase of 46.5%. In the second quarter of 2023, the total number of domestic tourism arrivals was 1.168 billion, a year-on-year increase of 86.9%. In the third quarter of 2023, the total number of domestic tourism arrivals was 1.290 billion, a year-on-year increase of 101.9%.

In the first three quarters of 2023, residents spent a total of 3.69 trillion yuan on domestic travel, an increase of 1.97 trillion yuan or 114.4% over the previous year. Among them, urban residents spent 3.17 trillion yuan on travel, a year-on-year increase of 122.7%; rural residents spent 0.52 trillion yuan on travel, a year-on-year increase of 75.8%.
